Claypot Spring Chicken

We tried @myorestobar Apple 1 Set Menu at SGD88 includes:
1. Siu mai with mushroom
2. Dumplings with mushroom
3. Kia Hiang Claypot Spring Chicken
4. Fried prawn tossed in salad cream
5. Sauteed Yi Fu Noodles with Chives
6. Dessert

The claypot spring chicken does leave an impression as is very tender and full of flavour. Other dishes are on point and tasty. The coconut dessert is very unique with yummy custard (need to top up $5 tho). Is a spacious restaurant which is good to dine with family and friends.

Support local and come to try this hidden gem in the CBD area. The food quality is so good and so affordable. Definitely will come here again.

ordered their signature claypot chicken with no regrets. both the cabbage and chicken were well seasoned and tenderized. also ordered their signature mushroom dim sum dumplings. filled with shiitake mushrooms and chestnut. earthy flavour.

Utterly sensational. There's something magical about the gravy, since it's so full of flavour yet there's a certain lightness about it as well. Most notably there's isn't any specific taste that sets it apart from other gravy yet it is completely different at the same time. A MUST-TRY and the first dish in a long while to blow me away. Not to mention the unbelievably tender chicken and cabbage. If you're not a fan of soft foods you won't like this though

Nice venue located high up on 19th storey of Oxley Tower which comes with a reasonable price tag for its menu, tho not exactly instagrammable food. Take this Kia Hiang Claypot spring chicken for instance - it looks like a gluey mess further aggravated by the brownish colour- totally unappetising! Thankfully the herbally broth was pretty decent - herbally taste wasn’t that strong. Unfortunately the chicken meat within was pretty dry and tough. Had expected it to be tender-smooth (yes I know breast meat is supposedly dry but the thigh meat/other body parts of the chicken wasn’t exactly tender either). The chicken and the broth appeared to be 2 distinct entities, ie chicken wasn’t really marinated w anything within, but simply soaked into a claypot of herbally broth. It doesn’t taste bad if you dip the meat into the herbal broth... but that’s a redeeming factor rather than a plus point to the dish? Oddly, the cabbage which was totally soaked in the broth was the highlight for me! But no way am I paying the price for a chicken claypot - for the cabbage - again!

Kia Hiang Claypot Spring Chicken

8 of us took the reunion lunch set ($388++) and we are all so full afterwards! The portion is generous with a variety of dishes. The claypot chicken is a must try here and is included in the set, together with the walnut bun, the fish, the chilly crab meat with the bun, the pork knuckle with chicken feet, the soup and dessert etc (cannot remember all cause there is a lot), i must say it is a 10-person set rather than for 8 as shown on the menu! All the dishes are delicious and worth trying again if you’re looking for a chic place with cantonese dishes.

A must-have here! All you need is plain rice to ladle the lip-smacking zhup over and one more tummy to share it with.
The super tender spring chicken underneath the cabbage cloak soaked up the flavours better than the organic chicken (individual portion) we tried.

Comes with Dianxin Duo (spring roll and siew mai), Prawn Dumpling in Superior Soup, HK Kai Lan w/ Wolfberry in Superior Stock and Rice (white/brown).

If you're thinking of getting this set instead of the whole claypot cos you get to try the mini claypot chicken plus more items, don't! The Kia Hiang Claypot Spring Chicken is so much more shiok.
