Their take on pasta carbonara using coconut cream and luncheon meat, this is no less sinful than the original, and in fact a lot richer on the palate! It’s delicious with lots of that accompanying sambal stirred in, but it’s best to share this with a friend, lest it gets too jelat.
Apart from their signature Tendon X Nasi Lemak fusion, Nasi Coco also serves up quite a number of Soba and Pasta dishes — the Pasuta Lemak is a pretty unique fusion of Nasi Lemak and Carbonara. The main crux of the dish would be the use of coconut cream sauce and the use of luncheon meat instead of bacon — really enjoyed that whiff of coconuts fragrance amidst the creamy sauce that laces the al-dents spaghetti, while the generous portion of diced luncheon meat pieces gives a savoury, meaty bite that's sinful but oh-so-comforting (probably because luncheon meat defined my childhood) with Ikan Bills adding a crunch to the pasta. Throw in a bit of that sambal and the pasta comes all umami; that sweetness, savouriness and spicy kick certainly gives the dish a unique taste of its own that I pretty much loved.
