Prawns and Scallop Laksa ($11)
Return visit to @donsignaturecrab to try the popular claypot laksa. Gravy is the watery kind but still full of flavour. Ingredients was a but disappointing with just 3 prawns, a scallop, tau pok and some fish cake slices. Overall still delightful especially with a side order of fried mantou to mop up the gravy.


And all that for $5 at Don Signature Crab.
Servers may need a bit of tack, and not cough with mouth open near customers’ food, but ok, you get what you pay for.
Didn’t plan it but Glad that I’m on track for frugality in 2020.

Reasonable price for all dishes.

Nonetheless, its crab dishes remain the main seller.
Besides the claypot crab Beehoon, we also always like its claypot prawn, and this Laksa prawn. Creamy and not too spicy, the Laksa was enjoyable even without those fresh and juicy prawns. Those prawns, by the way, were huge and very value for the price.

The soup here is really good, but the serving size of the bee hoom is really quite little. You can add on an extra claypot of bee hoon, vegetables, yam and soup for $6. The add-on is definitely very worth it.

The house signature dish, and one of the better renditions in Singapore, I hear it's in the top 25 of some lists.
Served in a fragrant, hearty soup / broth of crab stock, Shaoxing Chinese rice wine, evaporated milk, ginger, and tang kwei / dang gui / angelica root, the dish features a large, fresh, meaty Sri Lankan crab, over thick rice vermicelli noodles, crunchy nai bai / milk cabbage, tender chunks of yam / taro, and parsley.
The flavour profile is savoury boozy sweet, with a warming herbal note, and is very tasty.
