[CLOSED] Draft & Craft

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't a little disappointed that this pint of Rogue Ales' Hazelnut Brown Nectar tasted nothing like Nutella. But I'd also be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy it.

It's a beautiful brown ale with a punchy 6.2% ABV, and the taste is quite unlike anything ever seen before in the (inebriated) history of craft beers. It's smelt strongly but pleasantly of hazelnuts and caramel right off the bat, and the taste closely follow the nose. It was rich and jam packed full of hazelnut flavors, followed by a dash of cashew and just a smidgen of sweetness. The ending was as smooth as the beginning, and halfway through the pint it tasted and had a mouthfeel much like coffee.

I say, this is one very interesting pint of beer, and paired up with the chilled out ambience and swift service at Draft & Craft, I'm definitely going back for seconds. And thirds.

I can see why farmhands are reputed to be such heavy drinkers. This pint of Prairie Standard is a pure, palatable pint that's guaranteed to refresh your weary soul after a hard day of labor. It's slightly sweet without the threat of being too cloying, and it tastes strongly of citrus fruits and some spices I can't quite separate, with mild hoppy notes and a vaguely herbal taste. It was relatively carbonated with a nice dry body and an appropriately dry finish.

Draft & Craft could quite easily become my new go to place for obscure craft beers on draft. Besides just having great craft on draft, it's got a nice, chill vibe going, and even though they do charge for service, they make it worthwhile with their attentive and friendly service. Grab a couple of fellow alcoholics, grab a pint and a huge bowl of any of their fries (gotta make $10 worth it somehow, right), and you've got yourself the good life.

Amidst the party bars of Boat Quay comes this surprising find — a super laidback drinking spot along Circular Road. They even have a beer pong table set up on Fridays and Saturdays! Drinks wise, they have both bottled beers as well as a rotation of beers on tap — we tried the Thai Black Tea Pale Ale ($10) that they had that night, and loved how it was very flavourful yet light, and a cheap and great option for the rest of the night. We also like Dead Guy Ale ($16) and yummy cider La Chouette ($15), easily the most apple-y, satisfying bottled cider we've had. This is a perfect place for chilled out Friday night drinking with friends, but as the food here leaves much to be desired, we highly suggest you have your dinner elsewhere first.

There are many little bars and restaurants along circular road, but this is one of those really laid back drinking spots you won't expect to find. On Fridays and Saturdays, there's even a beer pong table set up on the road! Really enjoyed the beers we had, especially the Dead Guy Ale ($16). Crispy and juicy, though I wish the taco shell / wrap was a little more toasty. Decent lunch option at a location that is never crowded. Perfect for escaping the madness that is the CBD lunch crowd.

Tacos are $5 a piece on Tuesdays - except for some "premium" (I guess) meats which are $7. The fish (in picture) & steak were $7 each. A little on the steep side (usually they are $16 or $18 a pair.... Hmm) & frankly taste ordinary. Not bad, just ordinary.

Tacos come with a side of sauce; you can request the normal one, or have a spicy one... Which isn't very spicy, tbh.
