After hearing friends rave about this place and reading 5-star reviews of it on Google, Dumpling Darlings had a lot to live up to for me.

Sad to say but the food there wasn’t quite as darling as I thought it’d be. I got the lunch set ($16) which included noodles (I got miso mushroom), 4 pieces of dumplings (went with the smoked duck) and a drink (had the longan osmathus pu er).

🍜: firm but not quite chewy like Eng’s. I appreciated the generous helping of mushroom and the hanjuku egg that came along with it, but it was basically atas bak chor mee. At least the portion size was just right.

🥟: nothing quite special about how the dumpling was prepared — it tasted like smoked duck rolled up in wanton skin. That they were dripping laying in a pool of grease didn’t quite help.

🍹: possibly the saving grace of the set, it was handcrafted upon order and tasted lovely.

Was it worth $18.80 (with GST and service charge)? Not quite. Food was alright and service was patchy, with staff complaining right in front of customers sat at the bar.

It’s worth a try if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t make a special trek here for it — wanton or bak chor mee from the hawker/food court can easily hit the spot without the steep price. 💸

Ordered Pierogi (6pc), Gyoza (6pc) and Sichuan Noodle

8/10

Enjoyed the noodles the best out of all 3. The sauce was not too spicy and paired well with the minced meat and other condiments. texture of the noodles were perfectly bouncy and chewy.

I liked the gyoza much more than the pierogi, which was quite cheesy/creamy

came here with 2 friends for dinner. ordered the party platter as my friends have not tried this before. we were allowed to change some of the flavours which is great. the szechuan is a favourite among us! we agreed that the original is too strong on the vinegar, making it quite sour, and over powering the taste of the pork filling and overall dumpling. momo's curry was pretty odd... maybe because the texture of the impossible meat did not sit well with our taste buds.
next, the noodles! egg noodles from dumpling darlings are my favourite bc it's flavourful, the texture is bouncy, and overall not too dry. mushroom noodle is my fav, followed by the szechuan minced meat noodle.
lastly, the longan osthmanthus pu er iced tea is amazing and so refreshing, all 3 of us unanimously gave it a 5/5.
overall 4/5!!

The lunch set consisted of 1 bowl of noodles, 3 pieces of dumplings and a drink! I ordered the miso and pork noodles, the fried pierogi dumplings, the passionfruit and the wolf berry longan drink. Noodles were tasty and springy as the sauce coated all the noodles! Dumplings were crispy and cheesy as it was filled with bacon and cheese! Drinks were ok only. The free portion of bean sprouts was given before the meal was served and was a great appetizer.

Tried the smoked duck dumpling and fried pierogi dumpling, both were really amazing!
Smoked duck was really generous and bursting with flavour, ate it in one huge bite together with the balsamic-drizzled caramelized sweet leeks and it blended perfectly!
The fried pierogi tasted a little more western/ fusion and was really good nonetheless, would definitely order both again. Pity it’s no longer on burpple beyond.
Egg noodles tasted quite normal, I guess the braised pork sauce does make it a little nicer! Overall would really recommend the smoked duck dumplings!!👌🏻👍🏻

Please tell me what’s the hype about? Decent but normal leh.. Dumplings wise, my house there is 100% nicer. For those staying in the west - BLK 493 Jurong West st 41 fish soup stall, order the 锅贴, you won’t regret it
