This is our go-to order at any cafe and sad to say we would not get this πŸ₯Ά the next time we come to equate. The volume was rlly small for $7 and the matcha lacked the grassy and umami notes you’re expecting…we think there might be better matcha lattes out there 🫣
.
tldr; maybe come for their coffee? (after all they’re called equate coffee 🫠 HAHA) The other diners around us who ordered coffees looked quite happy with their drinks. One downside was that when we came around 2.30pm and ordered, it took >15 minutes for the drinks to come… they aren’t the fastest in prepping drinks 😭 Overall, our first time here was underwhelming (or maybe we ordered the wrong drinks), but we might be back to try our their sandos and mains! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Overall: 3/5 (the aesthetics and vibes are nice) πŸ₯Ή

This place has been going viral for its upside-down trees πŸ”ƒπŸŒ³ and deconstructed industrial vibes - we were curious to see what the food and drinks were like! We came down to chill 😎 after lunch and got their:

This was your standard cup of hot chocolate topped with pretty latte art. We liked this πŸ™ˆ because it wasn’t too sweet or bitter and had a good balance 🀌 of chocolate and creamy. It was not too heaty too; you would not get a sore throat the next day! πŸ˜‚

Needed to spot to finish up some work and decided on the pretty new Equate Coffee! Their Matcha Lattes are available in 6oz, 8oz and iced. Was a pretty good and smooth cup that was not too milky, but just thought it was a tiny bit sweeter than I’d like at its default. You can top up a dollar to opt for oat or soy milk!

The Halibut Sando ($16.80) came with a generous serving of fish fillet, smothered with creamy slaw and placed in between two lightly toasted milk bread. The fish was lightly coated and fried to a nice golden brown crispy while the flesh inside maintained moist. With the slaw, it added a crunch texture and just a nice touch of creaminess. A satisfying sandwich overall.

The other sando we tried was the Truffle Egg Mayo SpamΒ SandoΒ ($13.80) - an egg and spam combo well-loved by many. The sando was loaded with a generous portion of egg mayo and had the truffle taste and aromatics. It had a right portion of creaminess that went well with the crisp and fluffiness of the toasted milk bread.

Portions were quite small but food was delicious. I had the chicken roulade which was grilled chicken thigh stuffed with bacon and cheese. The skin was crispy while the chicken was tender, and the bacon and cheese added more flavor to the chicken dish. It was also served with cream spinach, though it was not very creamy and was more bland than expected. My friend got the truffle pasta which was served with scallops. The pasta flavor was strong in truffle and flavor, texture was good as well.
