Penang Delights has been around for at least 10 years, always been the go-to place for a good prawn mee fix. When we visited today, we were greeted by a younger lady, probably the daughter of the original stall owner. A grumpy old man, he used to dish out bowls of prawn noodles with a flavour so rich that would keep us yearning for the same taste every month.
.
This bowl of dry prawn mee takes the cut with it’s spicy blend of chili and fried shallots. The noodles are topped with pork and prawns, and splashed with a ladle of rich prawn soup. The accompanying broth has a rich sweetness, the result of boiling prawn heads and pork bones for long hours. It’s less rich when we tried it today compared to the old days, but still retains its sweetness.
.
Though not the best we’ve tasted, it’s a definite visit if you’re in the area!
