Perhaps this dish should be renamed to ‘Spicy pasta’ instead, given that the spicy shrimp XO sauce stole the limelight away from the umami bonito flakes with its tinge of spice and vibrant reddish hues. Topped with a generous heap of bonito flakes, the pasta also came with an onsen egg and ebiko. Spaghetti noodles are used for this pasta dish, which is done to a slight al dente texture. As a huge fan of spicy food, I truly enjoyed this dish with its relentless spice that was also fragrant, aromatic! The tiny shrimps and bonito flakes supposedly contributed to the umami flavour (as the name suggests) but unfortunately was overshadowed by the intense and lingering spice! .

Though food here was enjoyable, I am sad to admit that I can’t say so for the service. It was indeed a challenge grabbing the staffs’ attention (also partly due to the weekend crowd) and furthermore, the cutleries provided weren’t clean. Despite requesting twice from the staff, it still wasn’t given to us even after our food arrived and hence I had to search on my own for a new set( being clueless since it was my first visit here too🌚). Thanks to @burpple beyond, I managed to clinch a 1-for-1 deal for the mains which more or less, did some compensation for the disappointing service .
