Ever since moving to the west, it's been harder to travel east to visit Song Kee for Fishball Noodles. In my search for a worthy replacement in the west, I heard many recommendations for Soon Wah. They are hawker legends that originated from the Orchard/ Koek Road street stalls.Their Her kiao and fishballs are all handmade from scratch here. The use of "tee poh" or dried sole fish in their dumplings just takes them to another level. I really enjoyed eating the dumplings and fishballs here. The noodles are also cooked to perfection here. It's a really close fight between Song Kee and Soon Wah for me. By Proximity, I will definitely visit Soon Wah for the convenience. Probably one of the few stalls worth visiting at Newton food center!
