A new cafe opened in Isetan Orchard which occupies a unit on the first floor and the second floor. The difference between both places is that the second floor unit is a Dessert Bar, and though they do serve similar desserts, they seem to have more artisanal and interesting desserts whereas the first floor unit has the full board of sandwiches, mains, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, bingsu, waffles and cakes.

We tried the bingsu on the first floor since we were told that we had already missed the last order for the day on the second floor. Last order is supposedly 8.15pm as Isetan building closes at 9pm. The first floor unit is not affected as it has a door with direct access outside, and a shutter to separate it from Isetan when it closes.

The bingsu was served pretty quickly, however, it was a basic and one dimensional dessert. The shaved ice was tasteless, the brownies were fudgey, chocolatey, but hard. There’s a layer of chocolate sauce in the middle of the shaved ice layer, but it didnt change the overall dessert taste or texture much. The vanilla ice cream was ok, but a bit too hard to scoop without smushing the shaved ice.

I wouldn’t order this again, but Cafe de Muse makes a nice chill and hangout spot in Orchard, so I would still make a return trip to try the other food and drinks!
