Given the not-so-pocket-friendly pricetag that came along with this Tamago SANDWICH aka. Egg sandwich, I was initially skeptical on ordering it. Despite that, temptations still gave way, given the fact that eggs are one of my greatest weakness, apart from matcha🤓. Instead of the usual omelette or egg mayo, a thick block of Tamago (Japanese style omelette) is sandwiched between the soft and pillowy white toast, along with pear sauce and konbu mayo. With a fluffy and sufficiently moist texture, I was glad that the Tamago wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet, unlike those typically served in Japanese eateries. On the other hand, the spread of konbu mayo provided a subtle, pleasant umami flavour, contributing to a savoury flavour profile while the pear sauce added a tinge of fruity sweetness to the toast, which unfortunately wasn’t evenly spread and in fact, only distinct in one of the toast here! Personally, I would prefer the pear sauce to be omitted or perhaps served at the side as a spread for the white toast in silo, being a fan of savoury eggs, instead of a sweet version😅. Along with chips and baby spinach salad, this Tamago sandwich would perhaps be worth the try once if you are a fan of eggs but given the pricetag that came along, it won’t be something that I’ll order often 🤭. On a sidenote, I am loving the cosy, welcoming ambience in this cafe that’s great for chilling and getting work done with free WiFi! ✌🏻.
