My family has followed Outram Park Fried Kway Teow for nearly 30 years when it was first located in a coffeeshop at Pearl Bank opposite SGH to its present location in Hong Lim Food Centre.

It is my favourite plate of CKT. A sinfully and heavenly black gooey mess of noodles topped with crunchy pork lard bits, fleshy cockles and loads of eggs.

You can expect to wait an hour or more on most days and prices have ahem doubled in recent year. However, they are also a lot more generous in terms of the amount of eggs and cockles used.

The old uncle no longer mans the stall and has handed the wok over to his son. It is a little less gooey and flavourful than I remember it. But it remains a vestige of my childhood and the best plate of CKT in Singapore.
