Capital Cafe's popularity manifests in its line for nasi padang, but I like to be near the back where the little alcove gives me a good view of the coffee station. The Chinese aunty swings boiling pots and stirs coffee furiously, as a grumpy Kakak takes my orders. Her Kopi Peng (RM2.20) is more sweet than kao, but smooth all the same. I order the Mee Goreng from the young Malay man at the wok out front, not expecting this at all. In my mind it was a dry Mee Goreng, perhaps with fritters and tofu. It is instead the Hainanese-style fried noodles, doused in a dark, flavourful gravy with prawns and greens.

The cafe is more than capable of offering a tasty, comforting meal in its convivial setting. Parking is however, impossible (by that I mean it costs RM10) so take a train!
