I N V I T E D T A S T I N G
I was afraid I would be disappointed by the Berry Ricotta Hotcake because the Ricotta Hotcake with Poached Pear, Orange Caramel and Coconut Ice-cream ($18 nett) served just prior, was a knockout. And thus, had raised the bar damn high. Well, my fears were unfounded. This beauty turned out to be superbly fragrant with the scent of vanilla, and had a texture within that was light, loose and crumbly, making it all too easy to gobble up. The entire bounty of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries was delightfully sweet, while yuzu gel gave a pop of citrus brightness. Doing a fine job of rounding all that out was the cream cheese. I wasn't fond of the pinenuts scattered all over but they've never been something I like anyway.
This hotcake is big enough to be shared between two to four people depending on your choice of main course and if you're sharing anything else.
