Though known for their Grilled Fish, Tong Fu Ju Sichuan Restaurant 同福聚 serves up a mean bowl of Dan Dan Noodles (担担面). Perfect for the rainy weather, the comforting broth comes in 3 level of spiciness and of course non-spicy (for a wimp like me). A soupier version, theirs come simply with crunchy fried peanuts, leafy greens, chopped scallion and bits of meat. The savoury base can be a little salty or heavy for some but I thought that it was pretty authentic and flavourful. Great to slurp on, the noodles was the highlight as they remained springy even after the long soak in the broth and the layer of oil might look intimidating but it just made it more shiok. More ingredients would have made it a ton better, nonetheless a real decent and satisfying bowl of noodles at $7.80+.

And for something to share, their dumplings/ "Guo Tei" at $12.80 is hearty and great on their own with the crisp addictive base. Though a little gelat, each one just burst in your mouth with the yummy broth.
