Colleague bought this on the way to work for our afternoon tea! I’m not sure what each flavour is called, but one is topped with hazelnut praline cream and the other with dark chocolate.

Lemuel specialises in chocolates, and it’s evident in their tarts. These tarts are definitely catered for chocolate lovers as even the tart bases are cocoa flavoured! Taste-wise, the chocolate fillings are rich, thick, lusciously creamy, and not sweet. The consistency was just right, easy enough to cut through with a knife even right out of the fridge. As for the tart base, I felt it was too thin to balance the decadent chocolate filling. It was also slightly too brittle and crumbly.

Unfortunately, the hazelnut praline topping tasted sour. We thought it might’ve been made with a sour cream base but it didn’t go with the tart at all, so we reached out the Lemuel on instagram and they replied promptly saying they’d check their tarts! They got back to us offering a free tart for the trouble as the hazelnut tarts might have been stored at sub-optimal conditions leading to the soured cream. At least I’d picked off the hazelnut cream dollops, and kudos to Lemuel for their customer recovery :)

These tarts don’t come cheap, but they’re sure to satisfy a chocolate lover! Definitely wanna try the sea salt tart next!
