Fast forward a few years later and the restaurant is back and this time round, they have a space at ION Orchard for you to do takeaways during this period and they even provide delivery when you order via their website at Grandmas.oddle.me and enjoy 10% off your first order when you use the promo code GRANDMAS10 from now till 30 May 2020.
As it is my first time trying out their food, I am not able to judge the consistency of it from the years back but if its similar as before, it is truly a pity that they stopped operations previously. Fortunately, through the perseverance and determination from the restaurant’s stakeholders, they decided to reopen for business again so that we can savour such heritage dishes now. If these recipes are truly lost, it will be such a waste for the future generations. From their relaunched menu, we tasted both their Signature Grandma’s Nasi Lemak ($13.80) and Grandma’s Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak ($13.80), the difference between the both is that the former comes with a curry chicken lemak while the latter is a huge fried chicken leg. Both are served with an aromatic coconut rice, a thick slab of egg and in my honest opinion, an excellent side of sambal ikan bilis that is borderline addictive. I highly recommend you get an additional side of the Sambal Ikan Bilis ($8.90) to pair with your subsequent meals. On the sides, there’s also the Nyonya Chap Chye ($7.80), Tauhu Telor ($7.80) and another star of the menu, the Sambal Sotong ($12.80) which is stir-fried so masterfully that you can taste the wok hei from each bite.
