One of my favourite items to dabao (takeaway) for my tea break is their “cupcake”, according to the auntie at the cashier.

Looking nothing like your usual cupcake, these sponge cakes are soft, airy, and fluffy while being firm at the same time. Something I can only describe as--you chow down on the cake and the cake bites back.

Besides being pretty light on the stomach, these cupcakes make great teatime snacks and are best enjoyed with a pot of tea or coffee. I also like that the sweetness level is just right.

There is just this old school satisfaction chomping down on a soft, buttery, pillow-like cake while sipping my kopisikosong (local sock coffee with evaporated milk).
