Ask me about old-school charcoal steamboats and the first name that pops to mind is 天外天. Definitely order the pomfret, it may be slightly pricier but the soft, velvety flesh is worth that few bucks. The soup is tasty and packed with flavour (though it was a bit salty), and the yam was cooked till soft but still with a good bite.

Something I really love is their sweet, garlicky chilli that seems quite unique to them! Almost like a Thai chilli sauce but not quite as intense, perfect for the delicate pomfret chunks. The steamboat is great but the awesome zi char dishes (that’s super value for money) here means that you’ll be back for more!
