Never saying no to pancakes, my friends and I decided to brave the intimidating weekend crowd to queue for Belle-Ville’s signature made-to-order Millefeuille Soufflé Pancakes. Under the sweltering heat, the slow-moving line due to the limited seats was quite a downer. But having done my homework, I left pretty impressed with my order of Mango Pancake ($14.40/ 4 pieces).

As fluffy as soft pillows, the warm stack was thankfully not too custardy or gooey. And getting your money’s worth, the slabs are topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, almond flakes, whipped cream and chunks of mango. Layered with airy and feather-like Hokkaido Cream in between, the cream also seems to improve the texture of the already cloud-like pancakes; giving every forkful a melty quality.

Furthermore, despite some reviews saying that the millefeuille pancakes had a slight alkaline taste, I didn’t get that with the Mango Pancake - perhaps with the sweetness of the mangoes and light Hokkaido Cream masking the aftertaste. All in all, a place worth checking out for pancake lover, my only qualm with my order was that some of the mango cubes were a tad sour.
