Mapo Don / Dan Dan Mien set ($10.80)

After bearing with the excessive queuing that's usually a sign of good food, I settled for the greedy-man's option, half and half set comprising 1/2 portion mapo tofu don and 1/2 portion dan dan noodles.

Mapo tofu definitely packed a mala punch but the heat level was reasonable. The Mapo tofu tasted great except that the greasy chilli oil meat gravy slathered over the rice made it rather difficult for anyone to finish an entire portion and I was glad to have gotten only the half portion. The dan dan noodles on the other hand came in a bowl of nutty soupy gravy which together with the qq noodles did a very good job of relieving some of the heat and grease from the mapo tofu. Finally, it's also great that I picked the refreshing calamansi as my drink for the set! Loved the refreshing zest to cleanse the palate throughout the meal!
