Made famous by all of the seafood restaurants and the throng of tourists in the past who will hunt for this dish while they were holidaying here, the chilli crab has been transformed into numerous iterations since then. Over at Oriole Coffee + Bar, they have taken this national dish and created six chilli crab-themed dishes and a special gula melaka dessert, and this promotion will be available in the menu for dine-in, takeaway and deliveries, for a limited time only from 2 September to 30 November.

Following last year’s chilli crab-inspired creations, the team has created brand new dishes this year using the same chilli crab sauce. From the waffle nacho cheese fries and house-made chilli crab dipping sauce ($16.50) to the crowd favourite fried chicken wings that has been drenched in the rich chilli crab sauce ($18.50), you are in for a spicy treat. An alternative to burger sliders, diners can order the deep fried Butterfly Buns with Chilli Crab Sauce ($18.50) that contains crab meat chunks for many satisfying bites or the Chilli Crab Burger ($28) that has a giant crab patty sandwiched between buttery brioche buns. If you are in the mood for pasta or pizza, there are the Chilli Crab Linguini ($30) and Chilli Crab Pizza 12” ($32), both available in the original Oriole’s menu.

To end the meal, there is the Gula Melaka Lava Cake ($14) and as the name suggests, this dessert contains a molten gula melaka flowing centre that is served with toasted coconut crumble and coconut ice cream. Eating all of these crabby dishes can get a bit heavy at times, so to wash it all down, @Oriolecoffee has collaborated with a homegrown brewery, Specific Gravity, to introduce four signature craft beers to pair with these foods. The selection includes a wheat beer, classic IPA, golden ale and craft lager.
