For a fun day out with the whole family, this modern Japanese cafe in Sungai Besi hits all the right notes. While dads can keep themselves busy ogling at the big boy toys (the slew of Mazda cars next door in the service centre), mums can convene over coffee and cakes as kids frolick over at the spacious playarea. The menu of Japanese fusion food has something for everyone, from the Hachi Gyu Don (RM25) with honey-glazed beef to a zingier Yuzu Katsu Udon (RM26) slicked in a Japanese citrus dressing. Kohi Yatta also offers mini meals to entice little ones — try the foolproof Macaroni Minestrone (RM8), Mini Beef Hamburger (RM8) and a daily flavour of mixed mash for newborns. On sweets, the Grand Emperor (RM15) makes a fine treat with healthy oat pancakes steeped in maple syrup, salted whipped cream and kid-pleasing berries. Always looking for new ways to wow, the cafe also puts forward high tea sets and double-bowl lunch promos to look out for.
