T R E A T
I love meat but if I had my back against the wall and was forced to pick a plant-based meal, the NEW Vegan Set Meal by @Mrbiryani would be my straight-up choice. Because it is unabashedly aromatic flavour central.
Priced at $30 and $60 for 2 and 4 pax respectively, each set offers customers a choice for the starter, biryani rice, dish and roti/bread. Besides the starter which is only one serving, the bigger set has double the number of items per category.
That’s how I got to try both the Vegetable and Brinjal Biryani Rice. The former was good as it had sufficient chopped up long beans, carrots and capsicums but the latter with the cooked-till-squishy eggplants buried in the long grains, remains my favourite.
From the three options for the starter, the Andra Chilli Tofu was the one I went for. It was a tasty dish of firm pieces of beancurd stirfried with ginger, garlic, onions, cashew nuts and chili powder.
The list for the dishes is the longest in this Set Meal, so only after some deliberation did I decide on the Dal Tadka and Vegetable Kurma. Mushy but thick, the Dal was something I enjoyed with the Tandoori Roti a lot but when it came to the spicier and chunky Kurma, I found it paired better with the rice. But of course, this is just my personal preference.
