Brown Sugar Boba Milk [RM12.50]⁣

✨: I was expecting to be disappointed, but I was enlightened by the brown sugar fresh milk gods as soon as I took a sip of Xing Fu Tang’s rendition. The milk was light and refreshing, with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s the complete opposite of one of their competitors that start with an ‘A’ and end in ‘Y’. As for the pearls, I personally enjoyed the mochi-like texture of the pearls, but I understand some people prefer harder and chewier pearls. The drink had a subtle fragrant hint of cream cheese as well (not exactly sure if it’s actually part of the ingredients list). From my description of the drink, it’s no surprise that I was reminded of Haagen Dazs’ cream cheese mochi ice cream (that is bomb.com). Taste aside, a trip to Xing Fu Tang really is an experience in of itself. You get to see the live cooking of the pearls in brown sugar, the blowtorching of the drink’s brown sugar topping, and have your fortune told by randomly picking out a fortune stick (hence the name Xing Fu Tang, which translates to ‘happy/fortunate place’). ⁣

💬: Of course, the one downside of Xing Fu Tang is its crazy long queue! The line stretched across multiple shops when I visited, but perhaps it’s gotten better now. ⁣

I’d definitely recommend Xing Fu Tang and would actually find myself craving a cup! As not that big of a bubble tea person, this is a big statement. ⁣
