Freshly churned from scratch, Kind Kones’ repertoire of flavours are just the thing for a guilt-free midday treat after a heavy meal and the answer to a sweltering afternoon. Delicate but distinctive, each creation I tried was surprisingly smooth and creamy unlike most vegan ice creams which hold a curdled appearance as well as grainy texture. Thus, rewarding myself with a Double Scoop ($6.50/ Standard, $8/ Premium), I got the Salted Chocolate Chip and premium Sticky Toffee Pudding to share.

A simple classic accentuated with the use of all-natural and chemical free ingredients, the gluten-free goodness is a blend of coconut milk, cashew milk, cocoa powder, vanilla, dairy free chocolate chips and of course, sea salt. Chocolatey yet light and not overly sweet, the Salted Chocolate Chip was decadent without being too cloying.

On the other hand, the Sticky Toffee Pudding was a more unusual offering that delivered in its textures. Studded with soft coffee cake chunks, it is made with a base of cashew milk, coconut milk, almond milk, coffee espresso, vanilla, cinnamon, and dates. The taste of the plant-based milks was quite subtle and well-balanced with the bitter notes of the coffee. Overall, a great alternative to indulge in when the craving of ice cream kicks in.
