Came for the yakitori, stayed for these glossy, succulent oysters! One thing special about this place is that you can opt for the oysters to come grilled - a course of action that I undertook for 4 of the 6 oysters I ate. Please do not crucify me for saying this all you orthodox oyster-shucking lovers out there, but I very much preferred the grilled oysters which had the distinctive full-bodied “seawater” taste reduced to just a mild tinge! When coupled with the light and citrus-y radish and ponzu dip, the oysters slipped easily down my throat.

The yakitori (I had the beef, meatball, chicken thigh & salmon) though rather lacking in size more than made up for it in taste! All had an impressive smoky char, the hallmark of a good stick of yakitori! All in all, Gan Yakitori is a good place to chill out with some quick bites.
