Step out of your comfort zone at Tiong Bahru Bakery for their tempting Afternoon Three Sum ($25), a mouthwatering three-tier set in the appearance of a stacked bamboo dimsum container, containing a variety of savoury and sweet pastries and bites, the perfect way to getaway from the unbearable PM heat.

At the very top you can find yourself a tantalising collection of TBB Favourites: Pulled Pork Finger Sandwich, Croque Monsieur - baked ham and cheese sandwich - and Mini Squid Ink Bun with Smoked Salmon. All are delicious, my favourite bite being the tender and flavourful pulled pork, while the salmon isn't so bad itself, coming from a guy who finds salmon distasteful.

The mid-tier holds a collection of French Goodies: Varlhona Dark Chocolate Tart with a dulce de leche surprise center, Lemon Curd Tart with tangy lemon zest and Financier with raspberry on satiny cream. This is definitely the most decadent tier of the set, but the desserts do not attempt to overwhelm one bit.

The final tier at the very bottom contains the Singapore Flavours: Savoury Pandan Tartlette, Coconut Cheesecake and Blue Pea and Yuzu Verine Panacotta. I have to say this is the most attention grabbing of the lot to me, and I love local-fusion desserts so I believe I was most excited for this. True enough, every piece is like a delicate work of art and I love the flavours each dessert here presents; the coconut cheesecake is my star of the show with its light and fluffy base and rich coconut taste, while the yuzu panacotta is quite an indulgent delight as well!

It is recommended that this should be eaten from top to bottom tier, but if you are feeling a little naughty, have it however you please. πŸ˜‰

The Afternoon Three Sum is available from 3-5pm at all TBB branches (Eng Hoon Street, Tangs Orchard and Jalan Merah Saga, with Raffles City at $23.40++).
