I've liked what I've ordered here so far that I've ventured into their Starters Menu terrain; even though you don't get 1-for-1 deals here, paying full price for these won't burn a hole in your pocket. Hooray for Japanese food on a budget that doesn't suck.

Aburi Scallop ($13 nett) was a new discovery for me (my favourite is actually the Big Bowl of Clams in Broth, $9 nett). I'll be honest: Don't expect juicy scallops - instead these are very lightly seared slices, so that means they are more flat than bulbous. What I like about this dish is that the texture is great, not rubbery, & the scallops are fresh.

They are also topped off with generous amounts of flying fish roe (woohoo!) & what Umi Nami calls a "sinful mayo concoction". I don't know about sinful, but it is good πŸ‘πŸ»
