If you're in Katong on a sunny day, pop by this new kid on the block for an icy treat to beat the heat. Located across the road from Katong V, Beriwell specialises in smoothies, as well as acai and coconut soft serve. The colourful Hawaiian themed interiors and cheery vibes may instantly transport you to beach holiday mode. If it's your first visit, get the Superswirl ($6.90 for small with two toppings, $9.90 for large with four toppings). The soft serve is available in Coconut Majik (coconut mixed with a special iron-rich spirulina), Acai or The Twist (mix of both). Burpple Tastemaker Xing Wei Chua went for The Twist, and describes the acai to take the flavour spotlight with its deep berry notes — great for acai lovers, but coconut lovers may do better going for a single flavour instead. That was what Burpple Tastemaker Victoria Hii did. She likes how the coconut soft serve is light and refreshing, not strong and dense like coconut ice cream. Toppings run the gamut from fresh fruits like kiwi and pineapple to crunchier options like granola.
