Took a trip down memory lane for lunch today. Steeple's Deli is a place I have been visiting since my early 20's - they are Singapore's first delicatessen and have been around for 35 years! And yes, I have been finding enormous satisfaction in their sandwiches and milkshakes all this time.
On nearly every trip, the Pastrami ($15.90 nett) and the Reuben ($16.90 nett) are the two sandwiches I find myself constantly torn between. Today, the Pastrami won.
So it was its very well-composed yumminess of moist, hot pastrami, melted cheese and wholemeal bread that I found myself sinking my teeth in. Also tucked in there were a neat stack of crisp, dry lettuce (I find this small detail so important as I detest wet bread *shudder*) and sliced tomatoes. If wholemeal doesn't suit you, you can opt for rye or white.
Their milkshakes, made with scoops of ice-cream, are not to be missed. I had the Caramel Latte flavour ($6.90 nett) this time and really liked it.

I can't believe this place is still around! I used to go there as a kid
Jason Wong Amazingly, the place looks exactly the same! And the menu as well except for a few new items like a Cuban Sandwich ūüėĄ
Veronica Phua Gotta make a trip back and have a milkshake for nostalgia's sake ūüėä
Jason Wong Yes, you do! ūüĎćūüėĄ
