There’s always room for matcha desserts. And if you’re a matcha lover, this dessert is for you. Westies, there’s no excuse for you not to try Lee’s Confectionery DALE v2.0 ($8) dessert.

Pieces of soft matcha sponge cake are held together atop a reconstructed biscuit base. It has an uncanny resemblance to a little bush with a moss-like appearance. Within it lies a luscious green matcha white chocolate ganache that nicely oozes out.

This multi-textural matcha pastry is more than just one of your photogenic desserts. The matcha flavour was clearly evident yet it wasn’t too bitter or sweet, making it palatable for most. The crumbly, buttery deconstructed biscuit base added another dimension to the dessert.

However, I felt that the matcha overpowered the orange peel paste (it’s not necessarily a bad thing) and the orangey taste was relegated to that of a very subtle aftertaste. Not sure if it’s just me.

It’s my third visit to Lee’s Confectionery but it’s the first time I’m having their matcha creations. Guess third time’s the charm.
