🍰 Uji Matcha Hokkaido Roll
πŸ“Don Don Donki
πŸ“Œ Multiple Outlets
πŸ’° $9.80

Upon finding out that Don Don Donki had imported a whole bunch of new roll cakes, I knew I had to get my grubby hands on one of them. Compared to their famed souffle rolls, these Hokkaido rolls are much longer and thinner. I suppose it comes down to personal preference on whether length or thickness satisfies you more, but these small slices are really well portioned for a quick cakey bite.

The chiffon cake is soft, albeit not as soft as their souffle rolls. It's a bit spongier in texture. The cream has a pretty strong and milky matcha taste and the ratio of cake to cream is pretty balanced, compared to the souffle roll in which the cream dominates a large chunk of volume.

So far Don Don Donki hasn't let me down with any of their roll cakes! Though these Hokkaido rolls are a little pricey at $9.80 for a roll, the quality can be tasted. I still prefer their souffle rolls but these are worth a try!
