It has been a long while since I had good croissants. Thus, known for their unique flavours, snagging Brotherbird’s monthly box ($31) was a good chance for me to sample their different offerings. So for September, the line-up included 6 flavours but since sharing (calories) is caring, I only kept 3 to try.

First off, their newest Oolong Osmanthus was a sweet number complete with oolong ganache and osmanthus gel. The flavours were subtle and perhaps a little underwhelming in my opinion, there were some distinct floral as well as tea notes but it tasted largely like a sweetened cream. Hence, skip this and go straight for their rich and nutty, Rocher Croissant. Heating it for optimal ooze, the bake’s hazelnut filling really hits the spot with its intense chocolate-y flavour. A fool-proof combination, the dark chocolate glaze and added toasted almonds made it extra indulgent too.
