[Tasting, Halal] Nene Chicken finally has added their own version of the Budae Jjigae (aka Korean Army Stew) to their arsenal of Korean comfort food items! I had the opportunity of trying it with some Burpplers the other day, and itโ€™s safe to say that this was pretty decent.

Theyโ€™ve played it safe with the execution here by keeping things as authentic to the original idea as possible. Nothing boujee, nothing fancy โ€“ in fact, it retains the classic soul-warming instant food feel with ingredients like thick instant noodles, chicken luncheon meat, chicken sausage, rice cakes and tofu. I must mention a salient point though - this stew wasnโ€™t as spicy as Iโ€™d expected. Iโ€™m not the most tolerant of spicy foods, so imagine my surprise and excitement upon realising I was able get past the 6th spoonful?! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคค Of course, I eventually succumbed to it when I had a brainburn (opppsite of brainfreeze) moment towards the end of the tasting hahaha.

Anyway, their army stew is only available at three outlets: Hougang Mall, Bukit Panjang Plaza and Junction 9 (come 22 Feb). Nene Chicken is MUIS Halal-Certified, so thereโ€™s one more place for you and your Muslim pals to get your fix of this iconic Korean dish! ๐Ÿคฉ (7.3/10)
