The whole grilled padron peppers have a crunchy moist texture, and a delicate smoky vegetal sweet spice flavour.

Their peculiarity lies in the fact that, while their taste is usually mild, a minority (~25%) are particularly spicy hot. There is no way of determining whether a given padron pepper will be hot or mild, short of actually eating it.
