Thanks to #BurppleBeyond, I had my first ever meal of Mookata which is a Thai style of BBQ grill cum hotpot (well, more of a hot moat but it did the job).
Our group had been planning for a farewell lunch for one of our team mates and after tossing around a few ideas, this place won because their set-up suits big groups. Plus they offer a buffet option, and with Burpple Beyond’s 1-for-1 redemption, it’s a no-brainer.
I thought the spread of items for cooking is pretty decent with different kinds of marinated meats (my top picks would be the pork belly and chicken, the beef - not so much), bacon (yaaaassss), assorted vegetables, mushrooms, corn, eggs, a few types of noodles, as well as fish paste items, seaweed and cheese beancurd cubes.
There is also a ready-to-eat section packed with fried wantons, French fries, “man tou” and rice.
Ice-cream (the kind in tubs that you need to scoop yourself) and drinks are free flow too.
The dipping sauces which come in varying degrees of hotness, stand out for being fragrant with herbs and spices. You can also mix your own if preferred.
At $25.90 per head, I reckon the buffet is definitely worth it especially for those with big appetites. But with the 1-for-1 redemption which allows two people to enjoy the buffet for the price of one, it becomes a real bargain.
