[Tiong Bahru] The porridge here ($4) tastes less flavourful and is more watery than I recall it to be the last time I had it (which to be honest was perhaps 8 years ago).

It’s now become a barely decent bowl, which you probably wouldn’t even know was supposed to be cooked over charcoal after tasting it. Such a shame, but good thing there’s Sin Heng Kee.

Ah Chiang's Porridge (Tiong Bahru)

Disappointed that I didn’t managed to get my vegetarian bee hoon as it was sold out by the time I was there but fortunately, just down the road was the redemption in Ah Chiang’s Porridge.
