Undoubtedly deserving its title as one of 2018's best patisseries, MAS once again introduces something that is more than meets the eye with the simplistic and aptly titled Apple ($23.80+ for pastry-tea set), which consists primarily of French apples, Portuguese port wine, almond and light chocolate.

The unassuming exterior is actually naturally red due to extraction of the colour from apples at a specific temperature over an extensive period of time; was surprised that the texture of the 'skin' felt close to a legitimate apple. 🤩 It is moulded from chocolate, as are the stem and leaf.

Slicing into the dessert will reveal the core that's compartmentalised into an upper layer of diced caramelised red and green apples, as well as a lower layer of aromatic and nutty almond mousse with a texture and consistency so similar to ice-cream, except that it isn't. These two components are each prominent in their own tastes, while pairing harmoniously well together with the light chocolate with no cloying excessiveness but rather maintaining a pretty spot on balance of light sweetness and refreshingness. 😋

Arguably one of the best desserts I've had here, and definitely one of, if not the best I've had in 2018.
