The “Chicken Leg Nasi Lemak Set” ($16.30) is hugely popular for several reasons. One of which has to be that big piece of aromatic and crispy-of-skin “Ayam Goreng Berempah”. But in fact, even if you order their “Kosong” version of the dish ($5.60) which excludes the aforementioned fried chicken, I think it is still really satisfying because the basics are done right. The rice is always fragrant and fluffy, the egg - perfectly fried, the nuts and ikan bilis are unfailingly fresh and crunchy, and the Japanese cucumber manages to be cool and crisp each and every time. Then there’s the all important sweetish-spicy sambal that’s a match-made-in-heaven with the rice and everything else too.

Another wonderful thing about Nasi Lemak in general? It’s a dish that travels fine and tastes as good as if you were to eat it at the stall or restaurant.
