As “Ninja Bowl” turns two, they are celebrating their anniversary by launching new and more affordably priced Ninja Bowls, brunch items and (due to very heavy demand) pastas.
Bossman Darren told me that he and his wife Cecilia (ladyboss and Culinary Director) love to travel for inspiration. They draw ideas for flavours and techniques from the various restaurants, Michelin starred ones included, they’ve visited, then re-interpret them into hearty cafe food of quality. Based on what we were served today, I think they have done very well and also demonstrated a keen understanding of their local customers’ preferences.
Pictured above is my favourite dish of the four we tried and it happens to be Darren’s too. Named the “Tamago Sandwich”, it has an airy-light, flaky and buttery croissant filled with a melted cheese-topped tamago egg that’s unbelievably soft. Served with that is Japanese curry minced beef and an onsen egg. Super oishii especially when I ate all the components together.
