It has been widely known that due to the mountainous region surrounding Ipoh, the locals are blessed with high quality natural water, which is attributed to their tasty bean sprouts. Restoran Cowan Street is an institution of bean sprouts chicken from the long queues and limited operating hours as it opens at 6:30pm and sells out before 10:30pm, not withstanding that they are closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well.

We ordered a half kampung chicken (RM 28) and the medium-sized bean sprouts (RM 8), both wiped clean in minutes. The chicken meat was ultra tender with minimal fats and the soya & sesame sauce mixture that’s hydrating the chicken gives it that umami flavour. The other highlight of the meal has got to be that uber crunchy and juicy bean sprouts that was so addictive that one plate will never be enough.
