The chicken thigh was tender and succulent, though I would prefer if there was more marination of teriayki, instead of being just another separate element drizzled atop the grilled skin. The onsen egg was perfectly done to reveal a runny, flowy vibrant interior that was a good complement when mixed in with the sticky Japanese rice. Flavoured with teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise, the rice was a tad too salty and overwhelming for my liking that depleted my enjoyment towards the end. The pickled cucumbers added a pleasant crunch factor that's refreshing as well. I also added on a side of balsamic mixed mushrooms (+$3) which unfortunately was just mediocre, lacking the characteristic earthy note. Overall, a hearty and filling portion that's suffice for one though it comes with a steep pricetag! 😅 Fortunately, with @snatchsingapore , I managed to enjoy a 1-for-1 promotion for the donburi (offer ends on 24 AUGUST- tomorrow!) which made my meal more worthwhile. A great place to check out if you are in the vicinity or for the NTU students who just want a short escapade from school .
