@baristartcoffee_sg is a cafe which focuses on Hokkaido dairy in all of its food and beverage options. We started off lunch with their Ohihiro butadon and tonkatsu sando.
Ohihiro is a city in Hokkaido which is famous for its pork glazed with a special sauce over rice. We loved Baristart's version which tender and juicy grilled kurobuta pork belly glazed with their homemade teriyaki sauce over Hokkaido Nanatsuboshi rice and topped with mizuna, green onion and a sprinkle of shichimi togarashi.
Baristart's katsu sando is a Breaded pork cutlet sandwich with soft white bread,
tonkatsu sauce, mustard butter, and served with fries and gherkins. I wasn't a big fan of this as the cut of pork used was on the tougher side and the fats were too chewy for my liking.
We were still feeling peckish as the portions were rather small and got an extra main. Their Hokkaido carbonara featured spaghetti with Hokkaido rich milk, pork bacon,
onsen tamago, black pepper and parmigiano. For those who like their (non-traditonal) carbonara extra rich and creamy without being overbearing, this is definitely the place to go. A word of warning though --- they are really generous when it comes to portions for this dish!
