After months of contemplation and lots of positive feedback on how good the Nasi Lemak is, I finally picked up some confidence in trying out their S$12.80 Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Berempah.

When the food came, it was no wonder that they made their way to the 2018 Michelin Bib Gourmand awardees list. The coconut rice was amazing with a very clean separation of every grain, but powered with the distinct flavours of coconut and ginger. Then came the spicy sambal chilli that was delicious with all the other items on the plate, though it was a bit burning on its own. The Ikan Bilis and peanuts were super crispy, which I had also expected the fried chicken to be as well. However, the whole chicken leg had really tender meat, but sufficiently marinated flavours less that layers of crunchy crisp. Personally I liked my Nasi Lemak chicken a little more crispy, but this one’s flavour managed to compensate for that.

Putting everything together, I wished I had paced myself better in consuming the rice, because somewhere near midway, I ran out of carbs to go with the other stars. Perhaps, I was really impressed with the rice?

To be honest, if not for the sale of alcohol in the premise, the waitress informed us that the food is 100% Halal. Our Muslim folks might be keen on having this if deemed appropriate.
