The idea behind this new menu, according to owner and award-winning barista Ryan Kieran Tan, is to showcase brunch food in a conscious and refined manner, while maintaining the affordability and comfort though the cooking methods and ingredients used. During the media tasting event, we had the opportunity to sample these new dishes that were prepared with fresh quality ingredients and homemade sauces. For starters, diners can look forward to the refreshing Snapper Ceviche ($13.90) and Roasted Cauliflower Salad ($14.50) before moving on to the Salmon Skin Chips ($11.90) which pays tribute to offcuts such as salmon skin as these ingredients have been upcycled and presented in a delicious way. For entrees, there’s the meat options of Pan Roasted Chicken Breast ($21.90) and Pork & Broccoli ($21.90). If you are in the mood for eggs and toast, there’s always the signature Strangers’ Reunion brunch classic of Strangers’ Coffee Smoked Salmon on Toast ($18.90, pictured), which the name suggests; salmon cured and cold-smoked with coffee grounds and hickory wood to represent the coffee-centric theme of the café. Served with toasted sourdough bread that has been slathered with an espresso infused crème fraiche, the salmon is joined by poached eggs that completes the entire dish.
