Last weekend to lay your hands on the Houjicha softserve (last day of fair: 4 oct)! The characteristic roasted flavour and aroma was distinct, lingering but as a hardcore fan of teas (esp matcha & houjicha), I would personally prefer if there was a little bitter undertone to it. The intensity of the tea flavour pales in comparison to their uji matcha flavour that came with an earthy bitter undertone - only for the hardcore matchaholics! Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable with a lingering earthy and roasted aroma, along with the smooth and creamy texture. Option to have it on a chiffon cake (with azuki beans and matcha cream filling) or in a cone at the same price which I opt for the latter to fully savour the true, pronounced flavour first. Perhaps a twist next time on their chiffon cake? πŸ€” AND YES, it will definitely be this weekend! An annual affair that I wouldn't mind splurging on, given my fetish for matcha as well as the justifiable quality for the price paid for! Besides softserve, there's also uji matcha beverages (unsweetened/sweetened) that's freshly prepared and whisk on the spot as well as roll cakes, nama chocolates, matcha jelly and Mont Blanc! Indeed this is so match-a paradise for all matchaholics! πŸ’š
