Known for their locally sourced & freshly harvested ingredients, I was keen to try the Sweet Potato 🍠 Tortellini at @openfarmcommunity but unfortunately it was not available. 😭😭😭 The crew went along the line of pastas & proposed a swap to Bolognese, which was in the kids menu but they could upsize it to adult portion. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
.
Priced at $26++, the portion was decent & I must say that they were pretty generous with the ingredients - lots of bolognese sauce doused over the heap of pasta. 🍝🍝🍝 While I’ve always liked my pasta to be tomato-based, this was pretty one-dimensional & it got very heavy after a while. πŸ˜₯ It was a moment of enlightenment of why this was in the kids menu - & why it should remain that way.
.
The pasta was easily half the width of a normal flat pasta, almost akin to yellow mee used in lor mee - a size that is good for kids' bite. πŸ‘πŸ» Albeit having a nice firm bite, I felt that the pasta rendered too thick a mouthfeel as compared to normal broad pasta which are thinner & flatter. 😐
.
The plate was topped with some grated parmesan cheese πŸ§€, which added a light savoury element & some cheesy pull amidst the sweet meat sauce. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ This however also added to the heaviness of the carbs & meat which was a pretty dry combination to begin with, making the plate really cloying halfway through. πŸ˜₯
.
Would have appreciated an addition of some arugula/zucchini πŸ₯’ or crunchy greens πŸ₯¬ to make it more refreshing but then again, I was once again reminded that kids do not like vegetables. 🀣 Perhaps this slight tweak for adults’ version would be good! πŸ‘πŸ»

Personally felt that there were limited choices on their lunch menu - perhaps they could act on expanding it. For now, I guess I have learnt my lesson - sticking to the adults menu should be the way to go! πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
