I finalllly managed to buy this elusive char siew pau from ranking rhu pau! Have been cycling past the shop for countless times for the past few months but I was either too early they haven't open shop to sell / I was too late and they have sold out or closed for the day / queue was ridiculously long when I dropped by again after the end of my cycling trip. On this one fine day I was determined to get my hands on them. There was no queue at around 10.50am on a weekend. But I was told the charsiewpau (80 cents each? were still steaming and would only be ready at 11am (seemed to be the case that char siew Pau sales only start at 11am daily?). The char Siew Pau seems smaller than usual. It is also light brown instead of the normal red hue we are used to. The sauce also seems to be more starchy than usual. But overall I liked the sweetness and the light smoky taste to the charsiewpau! Will be back again to try the other dimsum items the next time!
