Opened just over three weeks ago in Telok Ayer, Baek Jung Korean Restaurant & Bar is the new kid on the block that aims to grab a part of the wallet spent from the many PMEBs that visit such restaurants for a meal and drink or two during lunchtime and after work.

If you are a Burpple Beyond member, you are in luck as the restaurant is a participating merchant and you can get to enjoy 1-for-1 mains when you dine-in. For this meal, I got the Pork Kimchi Stew and Dakgalbi with 3 Cheese, which both came in hearty portions that will surely to fill you up to the brim. The Pork Kimchi Stew is literally what the name entails and it comes with thick cuts of pork belly in a kimchi stew. The Dakgalbi with 3 Cheese was so comforting that you will instantly go to food coma heaven right after demolishing this plate. Hugh chunks of boneless chicken, cabbage, potatoes and cucumbers are cooked in a red chilli paste sauce (gochujang) before the addition of the 3 cheeses. Unfortunately, the flavours from the cheese didn’t come through, which was slightly underwhelming in my opinion, as the flavours were sort of overpowered by the other stronger ones such as the gochujang sauce.
